Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and one of India’s most-wanted organised crime fugitives, has been removed from the United States and is being brought back to India, officials familiar with the development confirmed. Anmol, a resident of Punjab’s Fazilka district, is expected to land in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The development came to light after the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) informed the family of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique—who was shot dead in Bandra on October 12, 2024—that Anmol had been formally removed from American soil. “This email is to inform you that ANMOL BISHNOI has been removed from the United States… The offender was removed on November 18, 2025,” the DHS wrote in an official email shared by Siddique’s family.
Long Trail of Escape
Anmol had been absconding after fleeing India using a forged passport. Investigators reported that he first slipped out of the country through Nepal, then travelled via Dubai and Kenya before reaching the US. He was detained there in November 2024, initiating a lengthy deportation process that concluded this week.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) categorises him among India’s “most wanted” criminals and had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his capture. Officials say Anmol is involved in at least 18 criminal cases, including the conspiracy to assassinate ex-Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique. Siddique was shot dead by three armed men outside his son Zeeshan’s office building in Bandra East on October 12, sustaining three bullet wounds.
Soon after the killing, a social media post uploaded by Shubham Lonkar, believed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. More than 25 people have been arrested in connection with the case so far.
Family Demands Strong Action
Zeeshan Siddique, Baba Siddique’s son and a former Congress legislator, told Hindustan Times that the family had registered themselves as victims of crime with US authorities as soon as they learned Anmol was in the country. “We used to get regular updates from them about Anmol Bishnoi. On November 18, we were informed that they had removed him from their land,” he said.
He added that the family now wants the Mumbai Police to arrest and interrogate Anmol to determine the motive behind his father’s murder, as well as investigate his suspected link to the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence. “Anmol is an Indian citizen, and he should be brought back. He is a threat to society,” Zeeshan said.
Key Suspect in Multiple High-Profile Attacks
Apart from the Siddique murder case, Anmol is also wanted for the firing outside Salman Khan’s Bandra home in April 2024. Investigators believe the attack was linked to the Bishnoi network. His alleged involvement in the May 2022 killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala remains one of the most significant cases against him, with agencies claiming he coordinated the operation from abroad.
A senior NIA official said Anmol acted as Lawrence Bishnoi’s principal overseas handler, managing extortion activities, issuing threats and assigning tasks through encrypted channels. “His presence abroad helped the syndicate build connections with criminal networks across West Asia, East Africa and North America. With his deportation confirmed, we are preparing to take his formal custody,” the official said.
According to agencies, Anmol’s return is expected to shed light on the Bishnoi syndicate’s global operations and affect several ongoing investigations related to terrorism, murder and extortion.
