New Delhi [India]: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has launched a Forward-Looking Survey on Private Corporate Sector Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Investment Intentions to assess and analyze private sector investment patterns in India.
Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for MoSPI, outlined the survey’s rationale and objectives, emphasizing its role in capturing private sector capital expenditure trends.

The survey focuses on gathering data from major resident enterprises regarding:- Capital expenditure incurred in the past three financial years.
- Planned capital expenditure for the current and next two financial years (2024-25 and 2025-26).
- Scope:
- The survey covers multiple industries and asset groups to identify sectors likely to witness significant investment in the coming years.
- Data Collection Methodology:
- Enterprises are selected under the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008 and notified through the Companies Act, 2013.
- Data is submitted by enterprises via a dedicated web portal with self-compilation features.
- Built-in validation checks and scrutiny by trained personnel ensure data accuracy.
- Scientific Validation:
- Enterprises are chosen through a scientific sampling process validated by the Technical Advisory Group and the Steering Committee, which includes experts from government ministries, academia, economics, finance, and research.
- Utility:
- The collected data will provide insights into investment trends and preferences across industries.
- It will also help policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to understand the capital expenditure outlook of the private corporate sector.
