Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 22 : Fans of the Drishyam franchise have reason to celebrate—Mohanlal has officially announced Drishyam 3, the next installment in the iconic Malayalam crime thriller series. The film is set to hit theatres in October 2025.
The announcement came on Saturday via a teaser video shared on Mohanlal’s Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts. In the clip, Mohanlal reprises his iconic role of Georgekutty, hinting at another gripping chapter in the family’s saga. The teaser ends with the words: “Coming soon. Lights. Camera. October.”

Alongside the video, Mohanlal wrote, “October 2025 – the camera turns back to Georgekutty. The past never stays silent.”
Fans quickly filled the comment section with excitement. One user wrote, “He will go to any extent to protect his family. Yess! The Classic Criminal is back!” Another added, “Next industry hit loading.”
The Drishyam franchise follows Georgekutty and his family as they navigate suspicion and cover up a crime tied to the death of a high-ranking police officer’s son. The original film, released in 2013, and its sequel in 2021, became massive hits and were remade in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. In the Hindi version, actor Ajay Devgn played the lead role.
Mohanlal was last seen in L2: Empuraan, which released on March 27, where he starred alongside and was directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
