Mohammed Siraj Rediscovers Form, Embraces Present Moment In IPL 2025 After Hometown Heroics

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 7: Gujarat Titans’ pace ace Mohammed Siraj has found his groove again in the IPL 2025, shrugging off a rocky start to deliver match-winning spells—and he’s doing it with a smile.

Speaking after his sensational performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Siraj shared that his new mantra is to “focus on the present” and simply “enjoy” bowling. In a candid chat with GT skipper Shubman Gill, posted by the IPL, Siraj reflected on his return to rhythm and his goals moving forward.

“Every day, I want to learn something new. I want to focus on the present and enjoy my bowling,” said the 31-year-old speedster, who seems to have turned a corner after being left out of India’s Champions Trophy squad—a snub that, he admitted, was tough to digest.

Picked up for a hefty Rs 12.25 crore in the last mega auction, Siraj had a forgettable start to his GT career, leaking 54 runs without a wicket in the opener against Punjab Kings. But since then, he has bounced back in trademark Siraj style—with fiery spells, thunderous in-swingers, and electric celebrations.

The highlight of his season so far came at home in Hyderabad, where he picked up a career-best 4/17—a spell that not only broke the SRH batting spine but also helped him cross 100 wickets in IPL history. To mark the occasion, he pulled off Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Siuuu’ celebration, to the delight of fans and family present at the stadium.

“You can’t describe the feeling when you perform in front of your friends and family. They only come to one venue, and I can’t describe that feeling right now,” Siraj said emotionally.

His wickets included Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aniket Verma, and Simarjeet Singh, playing a crucial role in limiting SRH to 152/8—a total that Gujarat chased down comfortably with Gill scoring a captain’s knock of 61 off 43 balls*.

Siraj’s resurgence has not only silenced critics but also reaffirmed his value as one of the league’s most lethal and passionate fast bowlers. With nine wickets in four matches, he’s now among the top wicket-takers in IPL 2025, and clearly, the best may be yet to come.
