PM Modi Slams Opposition’s “Chhichorapan” During Heated Operation Sindoor Debate

NEW DELHI, INDIA — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gave a speech to the Lok Sabha in which he harshly criticized the Opposition, saying they were “chhichorapan” (frivolousness) and politicizing national security issues during the ongoing debate over “Operation Sindoor.” His angry comments occurred in the middle of a long talk about India’s military response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22.

The Prime Minister gave important information regarding how quickly India reacted to the Pahalgam disaster. He said that the Indian military started a precise attack just 22 minutes after getting the go-ahead. “Our armed forces got revenge for April 22 in 22 minutes with precise attacks,” PM Modi said to loud applause from the Treasury benches. He went on to say, “Pakistan thought India would respond strongly right after the attack, and we did.”

Prime Minister Modi made a strong and forthright comment on Pakistan’s long-standing nuclear threats, saying, “India has shown that nuclear blackmailing will not work anymore.” He said that Pakistan’s military infrastructure was badly damaged, and that “many of their airbases are still in ICU.” The Prime Minister said that India’s strong will and cutting-edge technology were key to successfully shutting down terrorist bases deep within Pakistan.

Indian military “razed to the ground” important terrorist infrastructure in places like Bahawalpur and Muridke, which were thought to be out of reach, according to PM Modi. He talked about how important “Made-in-India” weapons were in these precise strikes and how the country is becoming more self-sufficient in defense. “This is the time of conflict based on technology. He said that if they hadn’t gotten ready in the last 10 years, the devastation may have been inconceivable. He credited his government’s long-term investments in defense readiness.

The Prime Minister went on to say that Operation Sindoor was not only a military success but also a big diplomatic win. “India got the support of all the countries,” Modi said, adding that most of the world supported India’s right to defend itself. He was quite disappointed, though, that some parts of the domestic Opposition chose to condemn the government’s conduct even though the rest of the world sided with India.

Angry Reprimand of the Opposition

During his speech, PM Modi asked certain Opposition leaders directly on their behavior during talks about Operation Sindoor. This was one of the most animated parts of his speech. “Kya maja le rahe the?” he asked, a rhetorical inquiry that implied their behavior was wrong and that they might have been enjoying the national crisis.

“While the whole country, even the bigger Opposition, backed the Centre, Saheb comes and makes fun of our work in the House.” Is this how you think a leader should act? Prime Minister Modi challenged the Opposition, making it plain who he was angry with. His harsh statements show that the government is angry about what it sees as attempts to politicize important national security issues and lower the morale of the military.

Operation Sindoor’s effects and what they mean for the future are still the main topics of this parliamentary session. The government wants to look strong and decisive, while the opposition wants answers and accountability for different parts of the operation and its diplomatic effects.
