Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane has launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) following the viral video of Rahil Shaikh, son of MNS leader Javed Shaikh, allegedly abusing and threatening influencer Rajshree More after a road rage incident in Andheri West.
In a video now widely shared online, Shaikh—shirtless and allegedly drunk—rams More’s car, hurls abuses, and threatens her using his political connections.
Nitesh Rane Calls Out ‘Selective Politics’
Reacting strongly, Minister Nitesh Rane accused MNS of double standards, alleging that the party only targets poor Hindus while protecting insiders.
“They will not take action against Rahil Shaikh because of his name. They’ve taken a contract to appease jihadis and divide this Hindu rashtra,” Rane said, further alleging that MNS leaders become soft when in areas like Mohammad Ali Road or Behrampada.
Influencer Rajshree More Demands Justice
Narrating the ordeal, Rajshree More said she was repeatedly rammed by Shaikh’s car while returning home from Goregaon. Despite the presence of police officers in her car, Shaikh continued to hurl abuses and acted arrogantly, she said.
“He told me, ‘Do you know who I am? My father is from MNS.’ He used political intimidation openly,” More told ANI.
More, a well-known personality with a significant social media presence, suspects she was targeted for her past criticism of MNS supporters over language-related violence.
“Why was my car targeted twice? This doesn’t seem like an accident,” she said.
Mob Intimidation & Allegations of Threats
More also claimed that following the incident, a mob of nearly 200 people gathered to demand an apology, threatening to vandalize her studio.
“I’m a Marathi girl, and still I’m being targeted. This is psychological trauma,” she added. “Where is a woman safe if even the police witness threats?”
Legal Action Taken
The Mumbai Police have filed an FIR against Rahil Shaikh at Amboli Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was detained and taken for medical examination, and his vehicle has been seized for investigation.
“A video showing a shirtless youth abusing a woman after a road accident is viral. The individual has been identified as Rahil Shaikh, son of MNS leader Javed Shaikh. Legal action is being taken,” police confirmed in a statement.
What’s Next?
The incident has sparked massive political and public backlash, with calls growing for strict and impartial action regardless of political affiliations.
More has appealed for support, stating:
“Maharashtra belongs to everyone. No one should be silenced for raising their voice for justice.”
