A police report from July 14 has made significant claims against U.S. Congressman Cory Mills. Lindsey Langston, a 26-year-old woman from Florida who is now Miss United States, says that Mills threatened to reveal private images and videos of her after she broke up with him.
Langston and Mills started dating in November 2021, according to a complaint filed with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. The article says that she later moved into the New Smyrna Beach home of the married lawmaker. Langston says she broke up with Mills in February after finding out he had a second girlfriend in Washington, D.C. After that, she went back to live with her parents in Lake City, Florida. According to the sheriff’s report, Mills kept calling Langston after they broke up, even though she didn’t want him to, and threatened to take away her Miss United States title. He also allegedly threatened to release “nude images and videos of her,” including recordings of sexual actions between them.
Langston gave detectives text messages and Instagram messages that she says back up her assertions. Anthony Sabatini, her lawyer, who ran for Congress in 2022 and lost to Mills in the primary, has posted some of these supposed exchanges on social media. One communication that Mills is said to have sent to Langston says, “I can also send him a few videos of you.” I still have them, yes. Sabatini wrote that the communications are a “criminal violation of Florida’s sexual extortion statute 836.05—a 2nd degree felony” in the post’s title. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has since sent the complaint to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement so they may look into it further.

Congressman Cory Mills told The Daytona Beach News-Journal that the claims were false and that he didn’t know of any complaints made to the police. There are no charges against him. Mills said that Langston’s lawyer, Anthony Sabatini, was “weaponizing the legal system to launch a political attack” and “score political headlines” because they had a political rivalry in the past. Mills responded, “These claims are false and don’t accurately describe how I interacted with them.” “I have always acted with honesty, both in my personal life and in my work for Florida’s 7th District.”
The congressman also talked about an earlier investigation by D.C. police into a suspected assault that included Mills and another lady, Sarah Raviani. Raviani said at the time that there was “no physical altercation” and no charges were filed.
