Siliguri (West Bengal) [India]: Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has dismissed the idea of accepting TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee into the BJP, labeling him a “rotten potato” and accusing him of being a symbol of corruption within the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
“There is no difference between Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee. Whatever kind of corruption he does, Mamata Banerjee is well aware of it all. We are not ready to accept Abhishek Banerjee (in our party). Why should we take a rotten potato? His staying in TMC is our USP. We can point towards him and say that the Chief of thieves is in TMC,” Majumdar stated.
Abhishek Banerjee Dismisses BJP Speculation
In response to speculation about him joining the BJP, Abhishek Banerjee rubbished the rumors, asserting his unwavering loyalty to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.
“A new illusion is being spread in the market that Abhishek Banerjee will join the BJP. Even if you slit my throat, the slogan ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad’ will still come out of my mouth,” Banerjee declared while addressing a gathering.
He further stated that the TMC would continue to counter the BJP as long as party leaders stood united.
“Till the time all of you (TMC leaders) are with us, we will continue to demolish the chakravyuh of BJP. Those who spoke against the party have been identified. I was the one to identify Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari who went against the party,” he added.
Mamata Banerjee Accuses BJP of Voter List Manipulation
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the BJP is manipulating the voters’ list with the backing of the Election Commission. On Thursday, she announced the formation of a special committee to review voter list irregularities in all districts of West Bengal.
She accused the BJP of adding “fake voters” to manipulate elections in Maharashtra and Delhi and claimed they were attempting the same strategy in West Bengal.
As political tensions rise in the state, both TMC and BJP continue to exchange heated words ahead of the upcoming elections.
