Washington DC [US], June 7: Rising star Michelle Randolph, known for her performances in 1923 and Landman, is in discussions to headline Malibu, an upcoming horror thriller directed by Paranormal Activity 2 filmmaker Tod Williams. The film is being developed under the Spooky Pictures banner, led by producers Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While plot specifics remain tightly guarded, Malibu is being described as a suspenseful entry into the “subterranean horror subgenre.” Production is set to kick off later this year.
This project marks a creative reunion between Williams and Schneider, who previously collaborated on the successful Paranormal Activity franchise. Spooky Pictures is also developing a film adaptation of Scott Snyder’s horror comic Dungeon, and the producing duo is attached to The Long Walk, Lionsgate’s cinematic take on Stephen King’s dystopian novel, scheduled for release on September 12.
Randolph, who starred as Liz Strafford in 1923 alongside Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, has steadily built her presence in the entertainment world. She currently appears in Landman, playing Billy Bob Thornton’s daughter. The Paramount+ series was recently renewed for a second season.
Adding to her growing resume, Randolph will also appear in Scream 7, slated for release in February 2026.
