Michael B Jordan’s ‘Sinners’ Secretly Used Costumes from Marvel’s Delayed ‘Blade’ Reboot

Washington DC [US], July 5: Audiences got an unexpected sneak peek of Marvel’s long-delayed Blade reboot in Michael B Jordan’s horror hit Sinners — without even knowing it. According to Variety, the producers of Sinners revealed that costumes originally designed for the Blade reboot were repurposed for Sinners after Blade’s production stalled.

In a recent interview with ScreenCrush, Sinners producer Sev Ohanian shared that they acquired the unused Blade costumes through Marvel’s generosity. “[Costume designer] Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting. At one point, that movie was going to deal with the past around the same era as Sinners. She happened to have a warehouse full of period-appropriate clothes, and it was like, ‘Yo, we got to shoot this movie like tomorrow.’ And Marvel was generous enough and kind enough to let us basically purchase it at price,” Ohanian said.

He added that “a lot of the background actors” in Sinners wore the Blade costumes, while the main cast had original outfits designed for the film.

Sinners, which premiered on April 18, has become one of 2025’s biggest box office surprises, grossing a staggering $364 million worldwide. It currently ranks as the eighth highest-grossing film of the year — and is the only film in the top 10 not based on preexisting intellectual property, Variety noted.
