Mentally Challenged Woman Mauled To Death By Stray Dogs In Uttar Pradesh

KUSHINAGAR – On Tuesday night, a sad event happened in the village of Arjun Dumri in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district. A group of stray dogs killed a 30-year-old lady who was mentally disabled. A call around 7 p.m. told the police that the body of a woman named Madhuri was lying in a paddy field near the local panchayat building and that dogs were attacking it.

Hata SHO Ramsahay Chauhan said that the police came quickly, scared the dogs away, and brought the body into custody. The SHO said that the woman, who routinely walked around the hamlet and had been missing since Monday, probably died near the panchayat building on Tuesday. After that, the dogs started to tear her body apart.

A Persistent Threat Villagers said that the dogs had devoured chunks of the woman’s body. They also said that stray dogs have been a constant problem in the neighborhood, pointing to other events like the slaughter of a calf a year ago and a goat eight months ago. The incident shows how bad the problem of stray dog attacks is getting in Uttar Pradesh. This is something that has come up in the state’s Legislative Council recently.

Kundan Singh, the Circle Officer (CO) of Kasya, said that the body has been sent for a post-mortem to find out what really happened. Hata Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Yogeshwar Singh said that the government has been told and sent a Block Development Officer to the scene. He promised that the victim’s family would get all the help they could.
