New Delhi [India]: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that all key issues between India and the United States will be discussed during the upcoming official visit of US Vice President JD Vance to India from April 21 to 24. The visit is expected to further reinforce the robust and growing bilateral strategic partnership between the two nations.
Addressing the media at the weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that discussions would encompass a broad spectrum of topics reflecting the depth of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
“When you have that level of partnership with any country, naturally all relevant issues will be discussed,” Jaiswal said. “We are confident this visit will give a further boost to our bilateral ties.”
On the matter of trade, Jaiswal confirmed that India and the US are in active talks toward a bilateral trade agreement, which would mark a significant milestone in economic cooperation.
“We are engaging with the US side for a trade agreement. Our relationship spans nearly every area of human endeavour, and trade is a vital component of that,” he added.
Vice President JD Vance, who will be accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance, their children, and senior US officials, is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21. In addition to official meetings in New Delhi, the US delegation will also visit Jaipur and Agra, returning to Washington, DC, on April 24.
This will mark Vance’s first official visit to India in his capacity as Vice President.
Jaiswal also touched upon global developments, including the ongoing US-Iran talks, calling them a positive step.
“We welcome the dialogue between the US and Iran. India has always stood for diplomacy and dialogue as the path forward in resolving complex international issues,” he noted.
