Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh): The Mahakumbh 2025 at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj continued to witness an overwhelming influx of devotees on its 36th day, with over 52 crore devotees having participated in the world’s largest human gathering so far.
Devotees flocked to the Prayagraj Railway Station in large numbers, with police officials and security agencies maintaining constant vigilance to manage the crowd. The Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G P Singh, conducted a security review on Sunday, appreciating the synergy between Uttar Pradesh Police, CRPF, and other involved agencies in ensuring smooth operations during the festival.
In a social media post on X, CRPF stated:
“In Prayagraj, DG GP Singh assessed security arrangements for Mahakumbh, guiding CRPF officials on balancing vigilance with seamless public assistance. He appreciated the fine synergy between UP Police, CRPF, and all agencies involved while commending their hard work so far in maintaining security.”
Special Trains for Devotees’ Convenience
To manage the extra rush of passengers and ensure smooth travel for devotees, Northern Railway has decided to run four special trains during the Mahakumbh Mela. The trains will help clear the additional passenger traffic, following safety concerns in the wake of the recent stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which tragically resulted in 18 deaths and many injuries.
The special trains are as follows:
- Train No. 04420: New Delhi to Prayagraj Jn (19:00 hours, via New Delhi-Ghaziabad-Moradabad-Bareilly-Lucknow-Raebareli Jn-Phaphamau Jn)
- Train No. 04422: New Delhi to Prayagraj Jn (21:00 hours, same route as Train No. 04420)
- Train No. 04424: Anand Vihar Terminal to Prayagraj Jn (20:00 hours, via Ghaziabad-Moradabad-Bareilly-Lucknow-Raebareli-Phaphamau)
- Train No. 04418: New Delhi to Darbhanga Jn (15:00 hours, via New Delhi-Ghaziabad-Chipyana Buzurg-Kanpur-Lucknow-Phaphamau-Varanasi-Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jn-Patliputra Jn-Darbhanga)
These special trains aim to ensure a hassle-free journey for devotees and ease the burden on existing routes.
Railways Responding to Recent Stampede
In the aftermath of the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which occurred on Saturday, the Central Railway has also announced the operation of four special trains to assist pilgrims traveling to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh.
The Railway’s effort reflects a commitment to ensuring safe and efficient transportation for the massive crowds expected during the festival.
