Brussels [Belgium], July 17: Just two days before the world-renowned Tomorrowland music festival was set to begin, a massive fire broke out at the main stage in Boom, Belgium, severely damaging the iconic setup, Variety reported.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 16, during the final stages of construction, with thousands of crew members onsite preparing for the festival’s opening on July 18. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.
Tomorrowland organizers quickly addressed the situation on Instagram, stating, “Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged.”
Current Status and Plans
- The DreamVille campsite—which hosts pre-festival events—will open as planned on July 17.
- Events in Brussels and Antwerp associated with the Global Journey travel experience will also go ahead.
- Organizers confirmed they are working on solutions for the main festival weekend (July 18–20), with a second weekend scheduled for July 24–27.
- They promised more updates and detailed information in the coming days.
Emergency Response
Videos circulating online showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the main stage area. Emergency services, including firefighters and police, responded swiftly. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
