Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Trailer Unveiled During Super Bowl, Set For May Release

Washington DC [US], February 10 : The highly anticipated trailer for Marvel Entertainment’s Thunderbolts was released during the Super Bowl, one of the world’s biggest sporting events, on Sunday night (Monday morning in India). Directed by Jake Schreier, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, and Lewis Pullman in lead roles. Thunderbolts is scheduled to hit theatres on May 2, 2025.

The trailer showcases the story of a group of misfits hired by Sebastian Stan’s character (Winter Soldier) to protect the city in the absence of the Avengers. Among the highlights is the first look at the villain Sentry, one of Marvel’s most powerful anti-heroes, known from the comics. The trailer delivers a thrilling mix of action-packed sequences and humorous moments, ensuring it meets the expectations for a Marvel movie.

The trailer opens with a court hearing, where actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus highlights the importance of creating a protective unit since the Avengers will no longer be around to safeguard the nation. Sebastian Stan then recruits a team of iconic Marvel characters, including Yelena, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and US Agent.

Thunderbolts faced production delays due to last year’s writers’ and actors’ strikes, resulting in a shift in the film’s release date. Additionally, some changes were made in the cast: Geraldine Viswanathan replaced Ayo Edebiri, and Lewis Pullman took over Steven Yeun’s role due to scheduling conflicts. The production is overseen by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, with Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson serving as executive producers.

With its dynamic mix of action, dark humor, and compelling characters, Thunderbolts is shaping up to be a thrilling new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
