Markets In Mumbai Prepare For Ramzan Festivities As Celebrations Begin

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 2: The Masjid Bunder area market in Mumbai was bustling with activity on Saturday, as traders stocked up on a variety of goods in preparation for the upcoming Ramazan celebrations. The streets were lined with fresh fruits, shawls, dates, fabrics, and dry fruits, catering to the growing demands of the customers. Hundreds of people queued up in the busy lanes, excitedly making purchases for the holy month of Ramzan.

As the holy month of Ramzan approaches, the festive spirit was visible across different cities, with preparations in full swing. In Delhi, too, people were seen buying Ramzan delicacies and preparing for the religious observances.

Syed Naseruddin Chishty, Chairman of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, extended his wishes to the people for the occasion. He said, “The holy month of Ramzan is about to begin. I wish everyone a very happy Ramzan. I hope everyone will observe the ‘Roza,’ and we will all live in harmony with each other.”

Ramzan, also known as Ramadan, Ramzaan, or Ramazan, is the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar, falling in the ninth month of the Hijri (Islamic lunar) calendar. During this holy period, Muslims observe fasting from dawn until sunset, known as “Roza,” one of the five pillars of Islam. This practice signifies devotion, self-restraint, and spiritual reflection.

In 2025, Ramadan commenced on March 2 (Sunday), following the sighting of the crescent moon on Saturday. The month of fasting culminates with the festival of Eid, marking the end of Ramzan and celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy across the Muslim world.
