Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet Announce Separation After 18 Years Together

Washington [US], June 28: Beloved French actors Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have announced their separation after 18 years of partnership, according to E! News. The couple’s representatives confirmed the news to the French news agency Agence France-Presse.

“After 18 years together, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have decided to separate by mutual agreement. This decision was made with mutual goodwill,” read the official statement.

The Oscar-winning Cotillard and actor-director Canet began dating in 2007 after starring together in the 2003 romantic drama Love Me If You Dare. Over nearly two decades, they built both a personal and professional life, becoming parents to two children—Marcel, 13, and Louise, 8.

In their joint statement, the couple expressed their desire to end speculation and protect their family’s privacy. “By demonstrating transparency through this press release, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet also express their desire that their private lives—especially those of their two children—be respected,” the message stated.

Their relationship, rooted in mutual respect and artistic collaboration, spanned many milestones, including the birth of their children in 2011 and 2017.

Both Cotillard and Canet are internationally recognized for their work in cinema. Marion Cotillard received global acclaim and an Academy Award for her portrayal of Édith Piaf in La Vie en Rose (2007). Her other notable performances include Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2013), and Allied (2016).
