Manish Sisodia Calls Delhi Classroom Scam Case Politically Motivated, Accuses BJP of Agency Misuse

New Delhi [India], June 20: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is misusing investigative agencies to target opposition leaders through false cases, calling the classroom scam probe against him politically motivated.

Sisodia appeared before the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with an alleged scam involving the construction of school classrooms in Delhi. Speaking to reporters, he defended the work done under his tenure in the education sector, highlighting the development of modern classrooms and improved infrastructure.

“Excellent schools have been built in Delhi and quality education is being provided. But the BJP, driven by political motives, is misusing agencies and filing fake FIRs. This case is no different. I will present my stand before the ACB,” Sisodia said.

He also referred to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, who had previously made similar allegations against him. Sisodia stated that he had filed a defamation suit against Tiwari, who is currently out on bail, and claimed that Tiwari is now avoiding accountability.

“Despite digging into the lives of every AAP leader, the BJP has found nothing substantial. They only file baseless cases. I wonder why BJP continues with such tactics,” Sisodia added.

The case stems from complaints lodged by BJP leaders Harish Khurana, Kapil Mishra, and Neelkanth Bakshi, alleging a ₹2,000 crore scam in the construction of school buildings in Delhi at inflated costs. The ACB had registered a case against Sisodia and former minister Satyendar Jain based on these allegations.

As part of the investigation, the Delhi Police’s ACB recorded statements from around 20 people, including engineers, contractors, and education department officials. Sources also revealed that an architect, who was never officially appointed for the project, allegedly received payments from contractors — a financial trail that has become a key focus of the inquiry.

The case continues to unfold, with both political and legal implications for Delhi’s former leadership.
