Manipur Security Forces Recover Cache Of Arms, Ammunition In Coordinated Search Ops

In the past 24 hours, the security situation in Manipur has remained normal, as confirmed by a press release from the Manipur Police. In continuation of efforts to maintain peace and stability, security forces conducted intense search operations in fringe and vulnerable areas across multiple districts.

Arms Recovery in Bishnupur and Churachandpur

On July 3, search teams recovered the following from the Wangoo Naodakhong area under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district:

  • One .32 pistol
  • Two empty magazines
  • Two live rounds of .32mm ammunition

A larger cache was seized the same day in Maovom village, under Churachandpur Police Station, which included:

  • One country-made AK rifle with magazine
  • One lathode gun
  • Four country-made pistols with magazines
  • Three country-made single-barrel rifles
  • One country-made Sten carbine
  • Four Pumpis of various sizes
  • Multiple rounds of live and spent ammunition including 5.56mm, 7.62mm, and 12 Gauge
  • Military gear: Bulletproof jacket, helmet, Baofeng Walkie Talkie (no antenna), jungle boots

Ongoing Multi-Agency Operations

Earlier, from June 15–22, a massive coordinated effort led by Indian Army and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, along with CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Manipur Police, conducted intelligence-driven operations across key districts including:

  • Thoubal
  • Bishnupur
  • Kakching
  • Kamjong
  • Tengnoupal
  • Senapati
  • Imphal East
  • Imphal West

Results of this joint crackdown:

  • 17 cadres from valley and hill-based insurgent groups apprehended
  • 24 weapons, 3 IEDs, grenades, ammunition and war-like stores recovered

Specific Recovery in Thoubal on June 16

A team comprising Indian Army and Manipur Police conducted a search in Leirongthel Pitra, Nongpok Sekmai (Thoubal) and recovered:

  • One .303 rifle
  • One 12-bore double barrel gun
  • One pistol
  • Ammunition and war-like items

These successful operations reflect a renewed push toward peace and disarmament in Manipur, where forces continue to work in tandem to dismantle militant infrastructure and ensure civilian safety in sensitive areas.
