Manipur Police Nab KCP-Noyon Cadre In Imphal West; Arms And Ammunition Seized In Ongoing Ops

Imphal West (Manipur) [India]: In a significant crackdown on insurgent activity, Manipur Police on April 6 arrested Waikhom Loveson Singh (31), an active member of the proscribed KCP-Noyon group, for his alleged involvement in extortion activities in Imphal West district.

The arrest was made at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak under City Police Station. The development was confirmed by Manipur Police via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“On April 6, 2025, Manipur Police arrested 01(one) active cadre of KCP (PWG), namely, Waikhom Loveson Singh (31)… involved in extortion activities,” the official statement read.

Massive Arms Haul Near Nambul River

Simultaneously, search operations and area domination exercises were conducted by security forces in vulnerable hill and valley areas. A major arms and ammunition cache was recovered from farmlands near the Nambul River under Wangoi Police Station, Imphal West.

The seized items include:

  • 1 SLR with magazine
  • 2 modified .303 rifles with magazines
  • 2 SBBL guns
  • 1 country-made .32 pistol with magazine
  • 1 hand grenade
  • 6 tube launchers
  • Ammunition: 4 rounds (.303), 12 rounds (AK), 2 tear smoke shells, 4 stun shells
  • Combat gear: 4 camouflage caps, 4 head gear caps, 2 uniforms, 4 bulletproof jackets, 7 iron BP plates, 1 plastic BP plate
  • 1 ground sheet and 2 rice sacks

Peace Initiatives and Cultural Support

Amid these security efforts, the Assam Rifles facilitated the Kongba Maru Festival at Sagolmang, Imphal East, ensuring smooth conduct of this religious event. More than 600 devotees participated in the celebration, which pays homage to a sacred hill and temple. Locals extended their gratitude for the Assam Rifles’ coordination, medical aid, and logistical support.

Joint Forces Operation Nets More Cadres

Earlier in the week (April 4–5), joint information-based operations by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, and central paramilitary forces including CRPF, BSF, and ITBP led to:

  • 6 insurgents apprehended
  • 22 weapons, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores recovered
  • Successful operations in Imphal West, Kakching, Imphal East, Churachandpur, and Bishnupur

Among these, two militants were arrested from Karpur Sangha (Imphal East) with a pistol in possession.
