Manhunt Launched After Alleged Gang Rape Of Schoolgirl In Assam’s Tinsukia

Police in Assam’s Tinsukia district launched a manhunt on Tuesday following the alleged gang rape of a schoolgirl. The devastating incident reportedly occurred in the Bordubi police station area on Monday afternoon, sparking shock and anger among the local community.

The victim, a Class 7 student, was reportedly returning home from school when the incident occurred.

Details of the Incident

According to an officer’s statement, the victim’s family first alerted police after the girl failed to return home from school, which concluded around 2:30 pm.

  • Discovery: Around 5:00 pm, an e-rickshaw driver informed the family that he had found the girl lying by the roadside in a semi-conscious condition in the vicinity of a tea garden.
  • Condition: The family rushed to the spot and found the girl with visible marks of injuries and her clothes torn.
  • Victim’s Statement: Based on the girl’s statement to the police, three men allegedly raped her and then dumped her on the roadside.

Police Investigation Underway

A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, and the girl was transported to the hospital for medical care.

  • Medical Status: Doctors at the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital are currently monitoring her condition. Police are awaiting the official medical report.
  • Search Operation: “In the meantime, we have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits,” the official added.

The incident has generated widespread outrage, with local people strongly demanding the swift arrest of the accused.
