Delhi Man Suffers Severe Burns After Wife Allegedly Pours Boiling Oil On Him While He Slept

Dinesh Kumar, a 28-year-old man from Madangir in Delhi, was attacked while he was sleeping. His wife is said to have poured hot oil on him and then dusted chili powder on his burns. Police think that the event, which happened at about 3:15 AM on October 2, was the outcome of a long-running marriage problem.

What happened in the alleged attack

Dinesh Kumar, who works for a drug business, was sleeping next to his four-year-old daughter at their rented house when the attack happened.

The Attack: The complaint says that Kumar woke up in terrible pain to find his wife standing over him with a jar of boiling oil that she had spilled over his face and body.

Ankit Chauhan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said that the woman then threw chili powder on the burns and allegedly threatened her husband, saying, “‘Agar shor machaya to aur garam tel daal doongi’ (I will pour more hot oil if you raise an alarm),” according to a media report.

Rescue and Hospitalization: Kumar’s shouts woke up the landlord, even though he was threatening to kill him. Anjali, the landlord’s daughter, said that the wife had locked the door from the inside. The wife first tried to take her husband away from the hospital once the door was opened, which made the landlord suspicious. The landlord stepped in, got an auto-rickshaw, and took Kumar to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital right away. Because his burns were so bad, Kumar was moved to Safdarjung Hospital for more specialist care.

History of Problems in Marriage

The police found out that the couple, who are both from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, had a history of problems with each other.

The couple had been married for eight years and lived in Madangir for a few years. They often fought about things that happened at home.

An officer said that the woman, whose name is Sadhna, had already made a complaint against her husband at the Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell two years ago, and that complaint was resolved. A few weeks ago, she made another complaint.

The Ambedkar Nagar police station has opened a case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on Kumar’s statement and first evidence. But so far, no one has been arrested.
