Man Shoots Live-In Partner In Gwalior; Dies From Injuries

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh — A terrible act of violence happened on a popular thoroughfare in Gwalior on Friday night when a 32-year-old lady was shot and killed by her live-in partner. The accused, 35-year-old Arvind Parihar, shot the victim, Nandini Parihar, several times near the Captain Roop Singh Stadium.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharmveer Singh said that the couple had been living together in the Sirrol region for about two years, even though they were both married to other people. The police said that the two fought a lot and that the victim had made several complaints against the accused in the last two years.

After shooting Nandini, the suspect kept threatening the people who were watching with his loaded gun, which made the police situation unpleasant. Police officers deployed a tear gas shell to distract him when he wouldn’t give up. Some police officers and members of the public were able to rush him, tackle him to the ground, and overpower him. The crowd is said to have allegedly beaten the man before he was arrested.

They found a gun at the site. SSP Singh said that this wasn’t the first time Arvind had hurt Nandini. In 2024, he was charged with “attempted murder” after he allegedly tried to run her over with a car. He was sent in jail for this.

A police jeep took the woman to the hospital quickly, but she died from her injuries while being treated. The person who shot has been detained, and a complete investigation into the reasons and events surrounding the shooting is now in progress. It’s not clear what made the person behave violently right away, but the authorities think it was the result of their lengthy history of fighting at home.
