Cachar, Assam: A 30-year-old guy from Amtoli village named Nirmol Namasudra has sadly died after being beaten up badly by several Border Security Force (BSF) officers along the India-Bangladesh border in Katigorah, Assam’s Cachar district. Namasudra died from his injuries at a hospital on Saturday after the event on Friday night. This caused a lot of anger and protests.
Local officials say that BSF jawans attacked Nirmol Namasudra on Friday night. After that, the BSF officers transported him to a hospital in the area. Because his injuries were so serious, he was moved to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where he died on Saturday.
The incident has caused a lot of anger in the area, and people are gathering in front of the Katigorah Circle Office to demand immediate and harsh punishment against the BSF troops who are said to be involved. Residents are still angry and want those responsible to be arrested.
However, officials have said that as of Sunday, the family of the dead person has not yet submitted a formal complaint, thus there is no case yet. The Border Security Force has not yet said anything about the claims.
Residents in the border areas of Cachar are very worried about this occurrence. They have reportedly made complaints in the past about BSF personnel harassing them during night patrols. The community is now demanding that those responsible be held accountable and that a full investigation be done into the events leading up to Nirmol Namasudra’s death.
