Bengaluru: In a chilling incident that has left the outskirts of Bengaluru in shock, a 26-year-old man was arrested late Friday night after police discovered he was transporting his wife’s severed head on his scooter.
The accused, identified as Shankar, was intercepted by police near Chandapura-Anekal Road in Heelalige village, Anekal taluk, around 11:30 pm, according to a report by Deccan Herald. Patrol officers had stopped him after spotting bloodstains on his clothes, prompting immediate questioning.
Upon interrogation, officers uncovered that Shankar had murdered his wife, Manasa (26), and was carrying her severed head on the footboard of his scooter.
Manasa and Shankar had been married for over five years and shared a three-year-old daughter. The couple lived in a rented house in Heelalige and were both employed in private companies — Shankar in Koramangala and Manasa in Bommasandra.
Suspected Affair and Domestic Disputes
Citing police sources, media reported that Shankar suspected Manasa of having an extramarital affair. Tensions between the couple had been rising, and Manasa had temporarily moved to a paying guest accommodation. She later returned, attempting reconciliation for their child’s sake, but frequent quarrels continued.
Attacked With Axe
On Friday, during a particularly heated argument, Shankar allegedly attacked Manasa with an axe, fatally wounding her. He then beheaded her and placed her head on his scooter before leaving the scene.
Police formally arrested Shankar in the early hours of Saturday, and a case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
