Taber Man Arrested At Vancouver Airport For 2025 Hotel Sexual Assault

LETHBRIDGE, ALBERTA — A multi-year investigation into a disturbing hotel room incident has led to the arrest of Yuvraaz Singh, a resident of Taber, who was apprehended at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on Monday, January 19, 2026.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) announced on Thursday that Singh, who had been on the run for months, attempted to re-enter Canada, triggering an immediate response from border officials due to an active Canada-wide warrant.

1. The April 2025 Incident

The charges stem from an investigation that began on April 24, 2025, when officers were called to a southside Lethbridge hotel to assist in property recovery.

  • The Discovery: Upon entering the room, police found Singh (then 21) with six children—one boy and five girls—all aged between 12 and 14.
  • The Deception: Singh allegedly lied to officers at the scene, claiming he was also a teenager to justify his presence with the minors.
  • Social Media Connection: Investigators later determined that Singh had met the group on social media, picked them up, and driven them to multiple locations before checking into the hotel, where he reportedly provided the children with alcohol.

2. The Assault and Flight

During the initial police intervention, a 12-year-old girl reported that she had been sexually assaulted in the room.

  • The Investigation: As LPS built their case, they attempted to contact Singh multiple times, only to find he had fled the country to an unknown destination.
  • The Warrant: A Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest in late 2025, ensuring he would be flagged the moment he touched Canadian soil.

3. Current Legal Status

Singh is currently being held in British Columbia pending his transport back to Alberta to face trial.

Official Charges Filed:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Inviting Sexual Touching
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer (for lying about his age)

Safety Resource for Parents

The Lethbridge Police Service has used this case to remind parents about the dangers of unsupervised social media interactions.

  • Monitor Apps: Regularly check direct messages on platforms used by young teens.
  • Hotel Awareness: Be wary of “recovery of property” requests involving minors in commercial lodgings.
