Kochi (Kerala) [India]: In a late-night operation that has sent shockwaves through the Malayalam film industry, the Kochi Excise Department arrested three individuals, including acclaimed filmmakers Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, for possession of hybrid ganja.
The arrest took place following a focused investigation, which led excise officers to apprehend the two directors along with their friend, Shalif Mohammed. Authorities seized 1.6 grams of hybrid ganja from the trio, sparking public interest due to the high-profile nature of those involved.
Khalid Rahman is best known for directing the critically and commercially successful Manjummel Boys, while Ashraf Hamza made a mark with his debut film Thamaasha, both of which were celebrated in the Malayalam film circuit.
All three were taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. However, no additional contraband was found during the search, according to Excise Department sources.
