The Republic Day Parade 2025 will witness a spectacular showcase of India’s military might and cultural diversity, highlighted by the significant contributions of women in the Armed Forces. Among them, Major Radhika Sen and Captain Ritika Khareta stand out as shining examples of leadership and dedication.
Major Radhika Sen and Nandighosh
Major Radhika Sen, a member of the mechanised forces, will march along the iconic Kartavya Path aboard Nandighosh, a quick reaction force vehicle indigenously developed by Bharat Forge.
Speaking to ANI, Major Sen expressed pride in showcasing the capabilities of Nandighosh, describing it as a mine-protected armoured personnel carrier designed for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism (CI/CT) operations.
“This vehicle can carry eight personnel with a full load, along with a driver and co-driver. It is proving its worth in CI/CT operations and hilly terrains. Now, it is also being introduced in UN missions, highlighting India’s strength in global defence manufacturing,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey, Major Sen recalled watching the Republic Day Parade as a child and shared her excitement about participating this year. “It is a very happy and pleasant feeling. I am sure my parents would be proud of me,” she added.
Major Radhika Sen recently received the prestigious ‘United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year’ award for 2023, recognizing her exemplary service with the UN mission in Congo.
Captain Ritika Khareta Leads the Corps of Signals
Adding to the celebration of women’s leadership, Captain Ritika Khareta will lead the Corps of Signals contingent during the parade.
“The Corps of Signals is a combat support arm responsible for the army network, cyber warfare, and electronic warfare. The contingent I lead consists of dedicated soldiers who are technically qualified. I thank my team for marching on my command and believing in my leadership,” she said.
