‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ Makers Debunk OTT Release Rumors, Urge Fans To Watch In Theaters

The animated blockbuster Mahavatar Narsimha continues its phenomenal run at the box office, having become India’s biggest animated hit. Amidst its success, the film’s makers have been forced to issue a clarification regarding widespread rumors about its imminent release on over-the-top (OTT) streaming platforms.

On Tuesday, Kleem Productions and Hombale Films, the production houses behind the film, took to Instagram to urge fans to “stay away from rumors.” In their post, they stated, “We’ve been receiving a lot of buzz about Mahavatar Narsimha coming to OTT soon, but let us clarify: For now, our film is ONLY available in theatres across the whole wide world.” The statement emphasized that no OTT platforms have been finalized yet and asked the audience to trust only official updates from their social media handles.

This clarification was met with support from fans, who echoed the sentiment that the film’s visual grandeur is best experienced on the big screen. One fan commented, “The fun of such an amazing movie is in watching it in the theatre.” Another added, “I have watched this movie twice in the theatre with my friends and family. It was a great experience… this movie is for the big screen.”

About ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ and its Success

Released on July 25, 2025, Mahavatar Narsimha is the directorial debut of Ashwin Kumar and the first installment in a planned seven-part “Mahavatar Cinematic Universe” based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. The film chronicles the story of Lord Vishnu’s half-man, half-lion avatar, Narsimha, who appears to protect his devout follower Prahlad and vanquish the demon king Hiranyakashipu.

The film has performed exceptionally well at the box office, raking in ₹106 crore in India and over ₹120 crore worldwide, despite facing tough competition from major Bollywood films like Dhadak 2 and Son Of Sardaar 2. The immense popularity of the film is a testament to its compelling mythological narrative and its state-of-the-art animation, which has set new benchmarks for Indian animated cinema.

The filmmakers’ decision to delay an OTT release is likely aimed at maximizing the film’s theatrical run and box office potential, a strategy that has been supported by both fans and industry experts. The next film in the franchise, Mahavatar Parshuram, is scheduled for release in 2027.
