Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], February 21: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday addressed the recent death threat he received, stating that such threats were not new to him. Reflecting on past incidents, Shinde recalled how he had faced several threats, particularly when the dance bar was shut down.
“Threats are not new to me. There were many threats when the dance bar was closed, including threats to kill me, and there were attempts made, but I was never afraid. Even the Naxalites had threatened me, but I did not yield to their threats… I initiated the first industrial project in Gadchiroli despite those challenges,” Shinde explained.
The death threat, which was received via email on Thursday, came from an unknown individual who threatened to plant a bomb in Shinde’s car. Similar threat emails were also sent to the Mantralaya and JJ Marg Police Station. The police have launched an investigation to track down the sender of the threat.
During his media interaction, Shinde warned, “Do not take me lightly; I have already told this to those who did. I am a simple party worker, but I am a worker of Bala Saheb, and people should understand that. When you took me lightly in 2022, I turned things around and changed the government. We formed a government in line with the will of the common people. In my first speech in the Vidhan Sabha, I predicted that Devendra Fadnavis ji would secure more than 200 seats, and we achieved 232 seats. That’s why I say, do not take me lightly; those who want to understand this hint should understand, and I will continue to work for the people.”
Meanwhile, the Mumbai police have arrested two individuals from Buldhana in connection with the threatening email. The accused, Mangesh Achyutrao Wayal (35) and Abhay Gajanan Shingane (22), both residents of Deulgaon Mahi, Buldhana, were apprehended in the Deulgaon district of Maharashtra.
