Maharashtra Approves ₹1.35 Lakh Crore Industrial Projects, Identifies Ineligible Beneficiaries Under Ladki Bahin Scheme

In a twin update on economic and welfare developments, the Maharashtra government has announced the approval of industrial investments worth ₹1,35,371.58 crore, aimed at strengthening the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and generating around 1 lakh jobs. Simultaneously, it has discontinued Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana benefits for 2,289 women government employees found ineligible.

Industrial Investment Boost

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, cleared 17 out of 19 large and mega project proposals during its 12th meeting. These projects span key focus areas including:

  • Semiconductors
  • Silicon ingots and wafers
  • Solar modules
  • EV components and lithium-ion batteries
  • Aerospace and defence manufacturing
  • Green steel
  • Textiles and gas-to-chemicals production

“These projects will not only bring massive investments but also promote research, innovation and long-term employment,” said CM Fadnavis.

The committee also includes Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with key bureaucrats and industry officials.

Ladki Bahin Scheme: Government Employee Ineligibility

Meanwhile, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare informed the Assembly that 2,289 women government employees were wrongly receiving benefits under the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana, which offers ₹1,500 monthly to women aged 21–65 for health and nutrition support.

“After identification, the scheme benefits were immediately discontinued for the ineligible recipients,” Tatkare confirmed in a written reply.

The Ladki Bahin Yojana is designed to empower underprivileged women and enhance their role in household decision-making.

The Maharashtra government’s dual moves reflect a focus on economic growth via industrialization, while also ensuring accountability in welfare distribution.
