Maha Kumbh 2025 Preparations In Full Swing: Rituals, Safety Measures, And Digital Innovations

Preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, are underway as the grand event approaches. The festival, celebrated every 12 years, will witness millions of devotees gathering at the Triveni Sangam (confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers) from January 13 to February 26.

Ritual Rehearsals Begin

Special rehearsals for ritualistic festivities, including the Ganga Aarti, are being conducted at the confluence to ensure a flawless experience for the attendees.

Safety Measures Strengthened

To manage the massive crowds and prevent incidents, the district administration has implemented extensive safety measures:

  1. Fire Safety:
    • 365 fire response vehicles have been deployed.
    • New fire stations have been inaugurated.
    • Quick Response Vehicles, ATVs, firefighting robots, and fire mist bikes have been introduced.
    • Firefighting boats capable of using river water to douse flames will be operational soon.
    • Awareness campaigns and mock drills are being conducted to educate the public on handling fire incidents.
  2. Technological Tools:
The administration has opted for advanced technology and increased manpower to ensure a secure environment for devotees.

Digital Innovations in Ticketing

The Prayagraj division of North Central Railway has launched a digital initiative to streamline ticketing during Maha Kumbh:

  • Railway staff in green jackets with QR codes printed on the back will assist pilgrims.
  • Pilgrims can scan the QR code to download the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app for booking tickets without standing in queues.
  • This innovation aims to reduce crowding, save time, and provide a seamless experience for travellers.

Key Ritual Dates

The Shahi Snan (royal baths), a highlight of Maha Kumbh, will take place on:

  • January 14 (Makar Sankranti)
  • January 29 (Mauni Amavasya)
  • February 3 (Basant Panchami)

This Maha Kumbh promises not only a divine and spiritual gathering but also a digitally empowered and safe experience for millions of devotees.
