Washington [US], March 16: Lucy Hale, renowned for her portrayal of Aria Montgomery in the hit series Pretty Little Liars, recently shared some surprising audition stories, including her tryout for the role of Miley Cyrus’s character in Hannah Montana.
During a recent interview, Hale opened up about several roles she auditioned for that might surprise fans. Among them were the musical comedy Pitch Perfect, the 2009 remake of Hairspray, and Fifty Shades of Grey, according to a report from Variety.
Hale reflected on her experience auditioning for Hannah Montana, the beloved Disney Channel series about a teenage pop star. She recalled that her audition took place a couple of years before Miley Cyrus was cast in the iconic role. “It was a taped audition in Tennessee,” Hale explained, “It was the audition that made me want to be an actress. I remember that vividly; it was very cool.”
Despite not landing the role, Hale’s acting career took off, and she made her television debut at 15 on the Nickelodeon teen comedy Drake and Josh, where she played one of Drake’s dates. “I was very nervous,” she confessed. “In the scene, he’s like, ‘What’s your name?’ And I go, ‘Hazel!’ And he goes, ….’ And I go, ‘uh-huh!’ And that’s it. Groundbreaking. My career skyrocketed since then, so it’s all because of that.”
Reflecting on her journey, Hale emphasized the realities of auditioning, saying, “For every ‘yes’ to an audition, there’s like a lineup of 200 that you heard a ‘no’ for.” She even joked about revisiting her journals to remember all the roles she’s auditioned for.
