Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – After a successful operation near Srinagar on Monday that killed three terrorists, including Suleiman Shah, who is thought to be the mastermind behind the Pahalgam terror attack, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) and a key player in Operation Sindoor, praised the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps on X (formerly Twitter).

In his piece, Lt Gen Ghai talked about the tough terrain and conditions that make anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir so hard. He added, “Sometimes, when you lose hope that results will come, you just need to think about the tough terrain and conditions that affect such operations.” This gave him a new way to look at how long these kinds of things might take.
He then went on to say how much he admired the Chinar Corps for always putting national security first. “Always remember that the Chinar Corps will always send terrorists to their deaths. Lt. Gen. Ghai said, “Salute to the brave soldiers of this elite unit of the Indian Army,” stressing how dedicated and effective the squad was.
These comments came soon after it was confirmed that three people had died in a joint operation called “Operation Mahadev,” which was carried out by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The fierce fighting took place in the rough Lidwas area, which is near Dara and adjacent to the important Dachigam National Park.
Suleiman Shah, who also goes by the name Hashim Moosa, is said to have planned the terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 people, mostly tourists. NDTV reports that Shah had served in the Pakistan Army and was connected to the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which is based in Pakistan.
Earlier, IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi told the media that these kinds of activities are still going on. “It is a long operation that is still going on, and the J&K police, paramilitary, and army are shooting at terrorists in higher areas.” According to reports from within, three bodies are being seen and seem to be neutralized. I don’t want to say too much right now because the operation is still going on. At the right time, we will tell you more. It will take us a while to do all of that and figure things out. He said, “The (security) parties are still inside,” which shows how hard it is to figure out and thoroughly assess outcomes in such difficult situations.
