Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India]: Despite a valiant half-century from Ayush Badoni and an 81-run partnership with Abdul Samad, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fell to a 37-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings (PBKS) due to a top-order collapse at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday.

This victory takes PBKS to second place on the IPL points table with seven wins, three losses, and one no result, accumulating 15 points. LSG, meanwhile, slipped to seventh with five wins and six losses, holding 10 points.

Chasing a mammoth 237, LSG got off to a disastrous start. Arshdeep Singh struck early in the third over, dismissing openers Mitchell Marsh (0) and Aiden Markram (13), leaving LSG reeling at 16/2.
Nicholas Pooran’s inconsistent form continued as Arshdeep trapped him leg-before-wicket for just 6, reducing LSG to 27/3 in 4.2 overs.
At the end of the powerplay, LSG was struggling at 38/3, with Ayush Badoni (9*) and captain Rishabh Pant (6*) at the crease.
Pant tried to build a partnership with Badoni but threw away his wicket with a loose shot off Azmatullah Omarzai, caught by Shashank Singh at sweeper cover. He departed for 18 off 17 balls, including a four and a six. LSG were 58/4 in 7.5 overs.
David Miller was next to go, dismissed by the Shashank-Omarzai duo for 11 off 8 balls, and LSG were reduced to 73/5 in 9.5 overs.
The only meaningful resistance came from youngsters Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad, who hammered 21 runs off an over from Vijakumar Vyshak, featuring two fours and two sixes, with Badoni leading the charge. LSG reached 100 in 12 overs.
Samad continued the assault, smashing Yuzvendra Chahal for two sixes and going after Marcus Stoinis as well, helping LSG reach 150 in the 16th over.
Their 81-run partnership ended when Samad was caught and bowled by Marco Jansen for 45 off 24 balls, including two fours and four sixes. LSG were 154/6 in 16.4 overs.
Badoni brought up his second fifty of the season in 32 balls, featuring four boundaries and three sixes.

He continued to attack but was eventually dismissed by Chahal in the final over for 74 off 40 balls, with five fours and five sixes. LSG finished at 199/7, with Avesh Khan (19*) and Prince Yadav (1*) unbeaten.
Arshdeep delivered a standout performance with the ball, taking 3/16 in his four overs. Omarzai took 2/33, while Marco Jansen and Chahal chipped in with one wicket each.
Earlier, an explosive innings from Prabhsimran Singh, supported by impactful knocks from Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis, propelled PBKS to a formidable 236/5 in 20 overs.
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first. Akash Singh, playing his first match of the season, removed Priyansh Arya in the opening over.
Josh Inglis joined Prabhsimran and took the attack to Mayank Yadav, hitting three sixes in the second over. Mayank continued to leak runs as Prabhsimran joined the party.
Inglis was dismissed for 30 off 14 balls by Akash Singh. PBKS were 66/2 at the end of the powerplay.
Prabhsimran reached his half-century in the 11th over in just 30 balls, while skipper Shreyas Iyer contributed a quick 45 off 25 balls before falling to Digvesh Rathi.
Nehal Wadhera added 16 off 9 before being dismissed by Prince Yadav. Prabhsimran continued to dominate and found a reliable partner in Shashank Singh.
Mayank Yadav endured a tough outing, conceding 60 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
PBKS breached the 200-run mark in the 18th over, with Shashank and Prabhsimran smashing 26 runs off Avesh Khan.
Rathi finally ended Prabhsimran’s stunning knock in the 19th over. He fell for 91 off 45 balls, hitting six fours and seven sixes.
Akash Singh and Digvesh Rathi picked up two wickets each for LSG, while Prince Yadav took one.
PBKS finished on 236/5 in their 20 overs, setting a target that proved too steep for LSG despite Badoni’s spirited effort.
