Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 12: The picturesque Kariwan in Devar Lolab, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, witnessed a remarkable turnout as the Lolab Winter Festival concluded, celebrating the region’s culture, unity, and traditions.
The event, held over the weekend, drew thousands of visitors and locals, showcasing the scenic beauty and vibrant culture of Lolab Valley in Kupwara district. The festival, designed to celebrate the winter season and highlight the area’s rich heritage, featured a variety of thrilling activities, including traditional music, snow volleyball championships, skiing, folk performances, dance shows, local handicrafts, nature walks, and an array of culinary delights.
Ayushi Sudan, Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, shared her excitement with ANI, stating, “The festival had numerous activities, with the cultural show being the highlight. We had a wonderful turnout of singers and performers, with over 10,000 people joining us for this event. It was a great response from the public.”
Local resident Irfan Ahmad expressed his satisfaction, saying, “The festival has brought joy to people, particularly the youth. It’s instilled hope and made them realize that Lolab is growing as a tourist destination.”
The festival’s standout events included traditional folk music, Kashmiri Rowf, Gojri, and Punjabi songs, along with a snow volleyball championship, skiing competitions, and a crafts market showcasing regional artisans. Guided tours of the area’s stunning landscapes further enriched the experience. Visitors also enjoyed a diverse range of local dishes, making the festival even more appealing.
Local leaders and dignitaries praised the efforts of the District Administration and other stakeholders for their hard work in making the festival a resounding success.
