New Delhi, India— The Lok Sabha saw dramatic scenes and a heated debate on Monday as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar talked about India’s strong attitude and decisive response, Operation Sindoor, after the terrible Pahalgam terror assault on April 22, 2025. Opposition leaders kept interrupting Jaishankar’s speech, which led to a heated response from Home Minister Amit Shah.
When the opposition benches booed loudly, Amit Shah stood up to support Jaishankar and asked them why they were disagreeing with him: “Will you not believe your own foreign minister?” Shah stepped up his attacks, saying that the Opposition didn’t trust the Indian Foreign Minister at all, but seemed to trust “some other country.”

Shah said, “I have a problem with the fact that they (the Opposition) don’t trust an Indian Foreign Minister but do trust someone else.” He then made fun of how the Opposition works together, saying, “I can see how important foreign is to their party.” But this doesn’t mean that everything their party does should be forced on us in the House. They are seated there (on the opposition benches) for this reason, and they will stay there for the next 20 years.
S. Jaishankar talked about how India’s diplomatic power is growing on the world stage earlier in his address. On July 18, 2025, he proudly declared that the United States had formally named The Resistance Front (TRF), the terrorist group that claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack, as a global terrorist organization. Jaishankar said that this big victory was due to India’s ongoing and hard work at the international level.
The Minister of External Affairs talked about how India’s diplomatic efforts have led to results that have never been seen before, such as the breaking up of long-time terrorist hubs in Pakistan. “Who thought that terror sites in Bahawalpur and Muridke would be brought down the way they were?” he said, showing how much the world has changed its mind on cross-border terrorism and how India is taking the lead in fighting it.
Jaishankar further stressed how strongly and broadly the incident in Pahalgam was condemned by several countries. He said that “groups like Quad and BRICS, as well as many individual countries, have openly condemned the attack.” This shows that more and more countries are standing with India on counter-terrorism problems.
He also talked about important help from big world powers. “The German Foreign Minister has said that India has every right to protect itself from terrorism and that they will help us.” Jaishankar told the House that France and the European Union have made similar professions of support. This shows that India’s global reputation in the battle against terrorism has grown and that its diplomatic efforts after Operation Sindoor were successful.
