Lisa Ray Calls Out Air India For Denying Medical Waiver Amid Father’s Health Crisis

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 20: Actress Lisa Ray has publicly criticized Air India for allegedly rejecting a medical waiver after she was forced to cancel her 92-year-old father’s travel due to his worsening health condition.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Lisa expressed her frustration over the airline’s refusal to accept a doctor’s letter, despite having submitted all the required documentation.

In her post, she shared, “Here we go again @airindia. My father is 92, unwell, and I have to cancel travel due to his ailing condition. Submitted doctor’s letter and the waiver was denied? How is that possible? Where is the empathy from an airline that claims to care about passengers???”

Air India responded to Lisa’s complaint via their official X account, prompting her to share a screenshot of the airline’s website. The screenshot revealed that no medical waiver option was available and stated that her father had been hospitalized.

Known for her advocacy work for patient rights, Lisa Ray has been vocal about health issues after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2009. She continues to raise awareness about healthcare, having written a memoir ‘Close to the Bone’ in 2019, which chronicles her battle with the rare bone marrow cancer.

Lisa, who began her career as a model in the early ’90s, made her acting debut in the 2001 film Kasoor. More recently, she starred in the second season of the popular Prime Video series Four More Shots Please!
