Washington DC (US), July 4: British rock singer Liam Gallagher has publicly apologized after using a racial slur in a now-deleted social media post earlier this week. The former Oasis frontman took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express regret over the offensive language, which was widely criticized online.
Liam Gallagher’s Apology
“Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before, it wasn’t intentional. You know I love you all and I do not discriminate. Peace and love, LG x,” wrote Gallagher in his apology post.
According to The Independent and The Hollywood Reporter, the original post included a derogatory term mocking East Asian communities. When called out by users online, Gallagher initially responded dismissively, replying “Why?” and “Behave” to accusations of racism before ultimately deleting the post.
Controversy Comes Before Major Oasis Reunion Tour
The incident occurred just days before the highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour, which officially kicks off in Wales on July 5, 2025. The band, which broke up 15 years ago amid tensions between Liam and brother Noel Gallagher, announced the tour in September 2024, with dates across the UK, US, Canada, and Mexico.
Reunion Film Also in the Works
Oasis has also revealed an upcoming concert film, directed by Steven Knight, to accompany the tour—further amplifying the buzz around their reunion. The film aims to capture the emotion and scale of one of the most iconic bands returning to the stage.
After starting in Wales, the band will:
- Perform 10 shows in England
- Headline 3 shows in Scotland
- Tour 2 cities in Ireland
The North American leg begins August 24 in Toronto.
