LG Manoj Sinha Visits Poonch Brigade HQ, Lauds Army for Operation Sindoor, Assures Rehabilitation for Shelling Victims

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 21: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday visited the Poonch Brigade headquarters, where he interacted with Indian Army and BSF personnel, commending them for their courage during Operation Sindoor.

During his address to the troops, LG Sinha hailed their swift and decisive action, stating:

“Today, the whole world knows Indian Armed Forces destroyed nine terror sites in Pakistan. Within three days, the enemy came down on its knees and started reaching out to the world. The whole country is proud of your bravery and valour.”

Highlighting India’s rising global stature, he added:

“We are the world’s fifth-largest economy and will soon be the fourth-largest. Our neighbour is trying to nurture terrorism with the loans it takes.”

As part of his visit to Poonch, the LG also offered prayers at the revered Gurudwara Nangali Sahib.

Focus on Civilian Rehabilitation

Earlier, on May 17, LG Sinha visited Kupwara to assess damage from Pakistani shelling and later chaired a unified command meeting at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar. During his visit to the Tangdhar Sector, he met with border residents and assured them of comprehensive support from the government.

“Based on the administration’s assessment, immediate assistance has been provided. But I think this help is not enough. A comprehensive plan for damage assessment and rehabilitation will be prepared,” he said.

The LG directed expedited construction of bunkers and guaranteed adequate essential services for affected regions. He was briefed by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan on the ongoing Gram Sabha-led bunker construction efforts.

Coordination and Relief Efforts

Sinha lauded the joint efforts of the Army, police, local administration, and civil organisations, calling the rehabilitation mission a “collective responsibility.”

His statements come amid increased cross-border tension following Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.
