New Delhi [India]: Acting on the directives of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, special camps have been initiated to facilitate beneficiaries under the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) ‘Sasta Ghar’ scheme. This initiative, approved last week, aims to provide affordable housing to various sections of society at a 25% discount.
The camps commenced on Saturday, with concerned departments required to submit a comprehensive report on their outreach programs through the Chief Secretary within 15 days for the LG’s review.
Targeted Beneficiaries:
The scheme focuses on assisting marginalized groups, including:
- Construction and other workers
- Street vendors
- Auto and taxi drivers
- Women
- War widows (Vir Nari)
- Ex-servicemen
- Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan)
- Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities
- Gallantry and Arjuna awardees
Decentralized Camps for Easy Access:
Special camps are being organized at various locations, including construction sites of DMRC, NCRTC, CPWD, NHAI, and other areas. Priority is being given to laborers, jhuggi dwellers, and those living in rental accommodations.
- Delhi Building and Other Construction Welfare Boards: Launching decentralized camps at construction sites.
- Rajya Sainik Board: Conducting outreach programs for war widows, ex-servicemen, and award recipients.
- Transport Department: Holding awareness campaigns at ARU/VIU Burari for auto and taxi drivers.
- Delhi SC Finance and Development Corporation: Facilitating loans for SC/ST applicants.
- WCD, Social Welfare, and SC/ST Department: Organizing camps for women, street vendors, and persons from SC/ST and Divyangjan categories.
Housing Options and Discount Details:
- 25% Discount: Offered on flats under the DDA Sasta Ghar Housing Scheme 2024 for around 700 EWS flats in Narela (Sector G2, Pockets 3, 4, 5 & 6). This is applicable to construction workers registered with the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board as of December 31, 2024.
- Applicable Schemes: Discounts apply to EWS, LIG, MIG, and HIG flats in Narela, Loknayakpuram, and Siraspur. Special provisions are also extended to auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers with registered permits, street vendors enrolled under the PM Svanidhi Scheme, and artisans registered in the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Implementation Oversight:
DDA has been directed to ensure the presence of relevant officers and necessary documentation at all campsites. Dedicated nodal officers have been designated to manage operations effectively.
Additional Developments:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated 1,675 newly constructed flats for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, as part of ongoing development initiatives.
