Washington [US], February 11: Amazon MGM Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine are reportedly close to selecting the lead actress for the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series. Sources close to the production have revealed that actresses Madison Wolfe and Lexi Minetree are among the top candidates, having tested for the iconic role of Elle Woods, originally made famous by Witherspoon in the early 2000s.
While no official decision has been made yet, it is expected soon. Both actresses have left a strong impression during an extensive search, which attracted numerous young talents vying for the role. Witherspoon, who will also executive produce the series, has been actively involved in the casting process, reviewing countless audition tapes.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Witherspoon shared that the audition process had been ongoing for months and praised the talented actresses auditioning for the role: “I just love them all so much and they’re doing such a good job.”
Inspired by the success of Wednesday on Netflix, Witherspoon decided to pursue a Legally Blonde prequel, aiming to delve into Elle Woods’ life before her time in college and law school. The prequel series, created by Laura Kittrell, will focus on Elle’s high school years, exploring the events that shaped her into the confident and beloved character portrayed by Witherspoon in the original 2001 film and its 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.
