World Leaders Express Solidarity With India Over Pahalgam Terror Attack; Jaishankar Vows Justice

New Delhi [India]: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar received calls from several global leaders and foreign ministers condemning the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists.

Jaishankar assured that India remains committed to bringing the perpetrators, planners, and backers of the attack to justice.

“India is resolved that the perpetrators, planners and backers of this attack are brought to justice,” he stated in a post on X.


Leaders Who Reached Out in Solidarity:

  • UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres: Strongly condemned the attack and emphasized the need for accountability.
  • UAE Deputy PM & FM Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan: Discussed the urgency of effectively countering terrorism in all forms.
  • Sierra Leone FM Timothy Musa Kabba: Condemned the attack and discussed ongoing bilateral cooperation.
  • Algeria FM Ahmed Attaf: Extended support and reaffirmed strong ties with India.
  • Guyana FM Hugh Hilton Todd: Spoke on the importance of combating terrorism in all manifestations.
  • Slovenia DPM & FM Tanja Fajon: Condemned the attack and extended support.
  • Panama FM Javier Martinez-Acha Vasquez: Expressed solidarity and looked forward to stronger ties.
  • Cyprus FM Constantinos Kombos: Called to offer support and solidarity.

India’s Response So Far:

  • In a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by PM Modi:
    • India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
    • Integrated Attari Check Post closed.
    • Pakistani High Commission officials declared Persona Non Grata.
    • SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas cancelled for Pakistani nationals.
