Jagital (Telangana) [India]: Defying state government orders, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the installation of the Telangana Talli statue in Jagital.
During the event, Kavitha declared that “no matter how many” government orders or gazettes are issued, the BRS would ensure the installation of the original Telangana Talli statue. She described Telangana Talli as a symbol of inspiration and courage during the Telangana movement, reaffirming her commitment to protecting the state’s cultural heritage, particularly Bathukamma, and spreading its essence globally.
“Telangana Talli inspired us during the movement and gave us the courage to achieve our goals. We will install her statues in every village to preserve our identity and culture,” she said, as per a statement from her PRO.
K Kavitha, the daughter of BRS leader and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, accused the Congress government of undermining Telangana’s cultural identity, traditions, and values. She vowed to counter such alleged attacks at the grassroots level.
Criticism of Congress Government
Kavitha criticized the Congress for its version of the Telangana Talli statue, alleging that it excluded Bathukamma, a key cultural symbol of the state. She claimed this as an affront to the state’s identity and celebrated Bathukamma alongside thousands of women in Jagital as a mark of protest.
She also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfill its promise to regularize contract teachers, a pledge made during the assembly elections. Kavitha urged the government to extend enhanced diet charges to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and other residential schools to ensure nutritious meals for students.
Visit to Kasturba Girls Residential School
Earlier in the day, Kavitha visited the Kasturba Girls Residential School in Sarangapur, where she interacted with students and teachers to understand their challenges. She called for immediate action to regularize contract teachers and enhance facilities in residential schools, holding the Congress accountable for neglecting its promises.
Cultural Pride and Mass Support
Kavitha received a rousing welcome from locals, with thousands joining in support. The event highlighted the BRS’s efforts to uphold Telangana’s identity and cultural pride, particularly by installing Telangana Talli statues as a unifying symbol of the state’s heritage.
