Lara Trump, daughter-in-law and close aide to President Donald Trump, said on Monday that the administration may “probably” release more documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, in spite of the Department of Justice’s recent memo ruling out further disclosures.
In an interview with far-right commentator Benny Johnson, Lara Trump said the President “wants to set things right” amid growing backlash from within the MAGA camp, which has long demanded full transparency on the Epstein case.
“Look, I don’t know what truly exists there, but I know this is something that’s important to the President as well,” said Lara Trump.
“He does want transparency on all these fronts… because it’s frustrated him as well.”
Her remarks directly contradict the DOJ’s July 7 memo, which claimed:
- No Epstein “black book” exists containing a client list.
- No list was used for blackmail purposes.
- Much of the case material is sealed by the court to protect victims and would not have been disclosed even if Epstein had gone to trial.
🧾 Memo Sparks Backlash
The DOJ’s position has angered MAGA-aligned influencers, who claim the administration is backtracking on promises of transparency. Former Fox News anchor Lara Trump’s comments appeared aimed at easing tensions, especially following criticism from top Democrats like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who called for full disclosure.
🗣️ Trump Wants Transparency — But It’s Not Top Priority
While Lara Trump emphasized the president’s support for transparency, she also clarified:
“It’s not his number one focus right now… but he hears all the noise and the consternation out there.”
She suggested that documents that do not endanger witnesses or minors could be made public:
“I believe there will probably be more coming on this… anything that they are able to release — that doesn’t damage any witnesses or anyone underage — I believe they’ll probably try to get out sooner rather than later.”
📌 Context: What’s at Stake
The Epstein case continues to stir conspiracy theories and political controversy, especially given Epstein’s death in federal custody and his ties to powerful figures. Trump has previously hinted at cover-ups and once retweeted speculation linking Epstein’s death to former President Bill Clinton.
This latest round of statements from Lara Trump adds more uncertainty and speculation around what the administration may still reveal — and whether MAGA-world’s demands for full disclosure will be met.
