A new fight has broken out in the family of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad. This could be a sign of a new split right before the assembly elections in Bihar. The most recent fight is between Lalu’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, and his close friend, Sanjay Yadav.
The Campaign Bus Issue
The problem started when an image of Sanjay Yadav, a key aide to Tejashwi Yadav, sitting in the front seat of the RJD’s campaign bus during the Bihar Adhikar Yatra went viral. A social media influencer said that the front seat is usually saved for top leaders like Lalu Prasad or Tejashwi. Rohini Acharya reposted the influencer’s message, which gently challenged the projection of “strategists” above established leaders. This sparked a lot of speculation.
Rohini’s actions have only made the matter worse after the uproar on social media. She posted a lot of vague things on X, saying that her self-respect is more important than anything else and that she has no political goals, simply a commitment to her family. In another post, she published a video of her donating a kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad, in 2022, which seemed to be a way for her to show how much she had given up.
Tej Pratap Supports His Sister
Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi’s older brother, has openly backed his sister Rohini as tensions rise. Tej Pratap told reporters that Rohini’s pain was real and that he fully supported her. He also made a veiled threat to anyone who disrespected her, adding, “Anyone who insults her will have to face the ‘Sudarshan Chakra.'”
The fight has made the RJD’s campaign even more complicated as they get ready for the elections. Rohini later posted images of leaders from poor towns sitting at the front, which seemed to go against what she had said before. She said that her father’s purpose has always been to help them. But these posts haven’t done much to stop the rumors, especially since allegations came out that she made her X account private and stopped following the official RJD social media account.
