Washington [US], March 17: Lady Gaga has secured another milestone in her illustrious career with the debut of her seventh studio album, Mayhem, at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album has been a massive success, earning Gaga the biggest opening week for an album by a woman this year, with 219,000 units sold, according to Luminate.
The album includes the hit singles ‘Disease,’ ‘Abracadabra,’ and ‘Die With A Smile,’ which features Bruno Mars. The track ‘Abracadabra’ stood out as the highest-charting single from the album, which was first premiered during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards in February.
This is not the first time Lady Gaga has topped the Billboard 200. Her previous chart-topping albums include Chromatica (2020), A Star Is Born soundtrack (2018), Joanne (2016), Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett (2014), Artpop (2013), and Born This Way (2011). Mayhem also marked the largest debut album by a woman in over six months and earned the biggest week of 2025 for an album by a female artist.
Meanwhile, Blackpink’s Jennie has made her debut on the chart as a solo artist with her LP Ruby, which debuted at No. 7, earning 56,000 units. The album has garnered nearly 40 million streams and 26,500 sales. Featuring collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, Dua Lipa, and Kali Uchis, Ruby offers a blend of pop and R&B. Jennie’s solo debut is now the third top-10 record by a Blackpink member, following Rose’s Rosie (No. 3) and Lisa’s Alter Ego (No. 7).
The rest of the top 10 this week includes Kendrick Lamar’s GNX at No. 2 with 81,000 units earned, PartyNextDoor and Drake’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U at No. 3, SZA’s SOS at No. 4, Tate McRae’s So Close To What at No. 5, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet at No. 6, Bad Bunny’s Debi Tirar Mas Fotos at No. 8, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time at No. 9, and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess at No. 10.
