Lady Gaga Opens Up About Career Challenges And Her Journey As A Performer

Washington [US], February 14: Lady Gaga has shared a heartfelt reflection on a pivotal moment in her career when she considered quitting music. In an interview, the iconic singer revealed that the thought of stepping away from her music career crossed her mind, particularly due to the emotional toll of being away from her family in New York.

“I missed the community that I had in New York, and that was really hard,” Gaga said. She acknowledged that there were times when she wondered if she should walk away, but emphasized that deep down, she knew she would never give up on her dream. “There were definitely times where I felt like maybe I should walk away, but I know for sure that I never would,” she continued. “I’m still doing it, so it must mean I want to do it.”

The 38-year-old star also opened up about how her journey as a performer has evolved over time. Reflecting on her early career, Gaga revealed that she no longer overproduces the creative aesthetics in her stage design. She recounted her 2010 BRIT Awards performance, where she sang in front of a massive 3D sculpture created by Nick Knight. “It was so early in my career; we just didn’t plan how it would get on and off the stage,” Gaga explained. “The crew guys were like, ‘This statue is about as big as this arena; we cannot put this on stage.'” She acknowledged that while the decision was expensive and impractical, it taught her the importance of being more resourceful and scaling back on grand designs for future performances.

In addition to her reflections on her career, Gaga made a surprise appearance during the 2025 Super Bowl, where she paid tribute to various tragic events, including the New Orleans terror attack, the Los Angeles wildfires, deadly airplane crashes in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and victims of Hurricane Helene. During her pre-recorded segment, she performed a powerful rendition of “Hold My Hand,” a ballad from Top Gun: Maverick.

The “Alejandro” singer also debuted the music video for her new single, “Abracadabra,” during a commercial break of the 2025 Super Bowl broadcast. The track, set to appear on her upcoming seventh album Mayhem, follows her recent singles “Disease” and “Die with a Smile.” Mayhem is slated to be a 14-track project, which Gaga officially announced on January 27.
