NEW YORK – Fans of pop star Lady Gaga were excited to hear that her new single, “The Dead Dance,” will be in the second season of the smash Netflix show Wednesday. The artist made the announcement during the “Graveyard Gala,” a special event in New York City to promote the song. The song will be out on September 3, 2025, which is also the day Part 2 of Wednesday season 2 goes accessible to stream.
Billboard says that Gaga performed on stage on Thursday night, August 28, with Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, and Joy Sunday from Wednesday. She confirmed the long-awaited track’s link to the show, much to the joy of the shouting crowd. “It’s part of the show, and I’m so excited for you to see it,” she said.
As a novel way to promote the song, people who came got to hear it for the first time in coffin-themed hearing booths. Gaga, who is known for being strange and dramatic, said in a joking tone, “I hope you’re really comfortable in your caskets.”
The news comes at a time when people are really excited about Gaga being on the show. A popular TikTok video of Jenna Ortega’s “Wednesday” dance scene adapted to Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary” was the first sign that the two would work together. This viral event helped the song from 2011 go back on the charts and is thought to have led to the singer’s official partnership with Tim Burton, the creator of the series.
A new trailer for Part 2 of the series has already hinted to Gaga’s role. Fans heard a voice at the end of the clip that seemed like hers, warning Ortega’s Wednesday, “Beware, there will be a price to pay.” Gaga said nice things about Burton and the cast, saying, “I had a great time working on Wednesday season two, even though I was only a small part of the show.” Several entertainment news outlets have confirmed that Gaga would play the guest role of Rosaline Rotwood, a teacher at the Nevermore Academy.
Gaga is quite busy right now with her “Mayhem Ball Tour,” and the new single and part in Wednesday will only make things busier. She recently played four sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden and will be back in New York City for her last two shows on September 6 and 7. The song’s release and the second half of the season are timed to enhance both the number of people who watch the show and the number of times the song is streamed.
