Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has lashed out at Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud for what he termed “false and baseless” allegations regarding phone tapping. In an official statement released on Tuesday, KTR confirmed that a legal notice has been served to Goud demanding an immediate public apology.
KTR accused the Congress government of deliberately dragging the phone tapping controversy to divert public attention from its failure to deliver on electoral promises. “The Congress government, which has failed to implement any of its six guarantees or over 420 poll commitments, is indulging in cheap theatrics and fabricated narratives like phone tapping to mislead the public,” he said.
The BRS leader condemned what he called “unfounded and disgraceful accusations” against himself and other party leaders. As a law-abiding citizen, KTR emphasized that he has always cooperated with legal processes, including politically motivated cases filed against him in the past.
Warning the Congress party of public resistance if such defamation continues, KTR said the BRS cadre would not stay silent in the face of irresponsible political stunts. “If the Congress thinks it can cover up its administrative failures with these diversionary tactics, they are mistaken. They will face serious backlash both in the courts and from the people,” he cautioned.
KTR further alleged that the Congress party was raking up the phone tapping issue to influence voters ahead of the upcoming local body elections. “This fabricated case will lead nowhere. It is evident that both the Chief Minister and the PCC President are competing to mislead the people through lies,” he said.
Calling the remarks of Mahesh Kumar Goud politically motivated and aimed at gaining media attention, KTR warned that such leaders would be held accountable in court. He demanded that the Congress stop its “diversionary dramas and propaganda” against opposition figures and focus instead on governance that benefits the people.
Concluding his statement, KTR advised the Congress leadership to abandon political theatrics and start addressing the real needs of the public, warning that the patience of Telangana’s citizens was wearing thin.
